Each banana plant weighs around 30 kilograms, most of it made up of its thick pseudostem and broad leaves.
Why is it removed? Because bananas are not trees, but large herbaceous plants.
Each plant bears fruit only once. After harvest, the pseudostem is cut down to allow new shoots to emerge and continue the growing cycle.
